William (Bill) Osborne was born in 1927 and grew up in Beverly. He attended the Harvard School for Boys and was a champion swimmer. He served in the Army in Europe in WWII. He graduated from Lawrence College in 1952. After living in Neenah, WI and Palatine, IL Bill and June built a house in Inverness. Bill joined Becker in 1952 and ten years later became a shareholder, and in 1964, a vice president. Bill built up a substantial clientele. He moved over to William Blair in the late 1970s or early 1980s and must have retired in the 1990s and moved to Marco Island. Bill was an avid sportsman, and especially a golfer and collector of golf memorabilia. He was a member of the Union League Club.

Chicago Tribune, Sepember 10, 2012. William Harold Osborne, Jr. died at home in Marco Island, FL, September 3, 2012, at age 85. Bill was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church and later All Saints Lutheran Church in Palatine, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife June, a son, and a sister; he was survived by two daughters; four grandchildren; and special caregiver families.
