Theodore (Ted) Albert Robinson was born in 1934 in Belle Harbor, NY. He graduated from Brooklyn Prep High School and then from Hofstra University. He spent his business career starting with A.G. Becker in the early 1950s where he became head of National OTC Trading. He left Becker in the 1970s to join Allen & Co. as a partner, and then became a partner of Gilder, Gagnon, & Howe. From 1979 to 2001, he formed and managed his own investment fund, JTH Associates.

Ted Robinson died in Naples, FL, on August 12, 2009, at 75.
