Don Gally joined Becker in early 1948 replacing Jay Dunne as head of the “Statistical Department.” Gally had been a vice president and investment officer of the Central Trust Company, Cincinnatti, and before that with Dominick and Dominick. It is assumed that there was a reasonably close relationship between the Statistical Department and that headed by Harold “Woodie” Wood in the 1950s, although the former must have concentrated on the analysis of common stock values. It was the predecessor to the Investment Research Department set up by Larry Kahn starting in the mid 1950s. Nothing is known of what happened to Gally when he left Becker about 1952.
