David (Dave) Murdoch joined Becker in 1959 in the Chicago corporate finance department. Dave worked on various corporate relationships and transactions culminating in assisting the retention of Becker as the financial adviser of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and helping to unravel and organize a disposition of over $2 billion in miscellaneous assets. David later left Becker to become the Chief Financial Officer of the MacArthur Foundation and then later, became a central finance officer in Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.
