Under his management, the business experienced high growth from 1968-1971 at which time Dave was put in charge of a new Corporate Services Division, As noted in the Chronicle, this organizational grouping was quickly evaluated to have been an organizational mistake, to no fault of Dave, and the decison promptly reversed. Shortly, Dave resigned to become President and CEO of Fansteel, Inc. When it was acquired in 1976, Dave led an investor group in acquiring Sciaky Bros. Inc.,a Chicago manufacturing company which he then sold, becoming President and CEO of Baker, Fentress & Co., an invesment company. He served on various corporate boards, and was an avid golfer. He died suddenly in early 2014 at the age of 83.
