Don was born in 1927 and raised in a “Becker” family – his father, Alwin, having been an employee since 1923. Shortly after graduating from the University of Illinois, Don joined Becker’s Roseland office when it was opened by his father in 1953. He became an Assistant Vice President in 1962 when he transferred to the downtown office becoming Assistant Sales Manager, and then Sales Manager in 1964. He became head of the Investment Dealer and Markets Division in 1966 and a member of the Board of Directors. In 1969, Don moved to the NY Office where he headed the Syndicate, Municipal and Trading Division, and took temporary charge of Institutional Sales. Later, in 1973, Don resigned to become chief operating officer of the Chicago Corp.. After a few years, he moved on to become Chairman of Oberweiss Securities, Aurora, after which he formed Pearson Capital providing financing to small businesses. He was an avid golfer and member of various clubs. He was also active in Barrington civic organizations.

Obituary:
Donald E. Pearson, 84, of Barrington and formerly of Winnetka and Chicago, passed away peacefully just before dawn on Sunday, May 22, 2011. He is survived by his widow, Dolores; six children; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister. a brother, Bob, deceased, and a father, Alwin, were also a long time employees of A.G. Becker & Co.
